September 25, 2023 - A Reasoned Path: An Evening with Vaclav Smil
A pragmatic approach to navigating global challenges and finding a better balance.
At this special dinner event, world-renowned energy expert and New York Times bestselling author Vaclav Smil will discuss the need for a clear-eyed, realistic approach to balancing the economy and the environment while meeting humanity's material needs on a finite planet. This is a rare opportunity to hear Professor Smil speak. It is his most high-profile talk ever in Western Canada.
What will it take to reach net-zero emissions targets, and is it possible to reach net-zero goals by 2050 without phasing out oil and gas? These are among the most important questions facing Canadian businesses, regulators and public officials.
In addition to Smil's presentation, this evening includes a sit-down three-course dinner and a Q&A with the author.
This event is presented by Resource Works Society, a Vancouver-based not-for-profit that since 2013 has been advocating for energy and natural resource awareness.
