SUMMARY:April 29\, 2013 - Innovation Roundtable - Social
DESCRIPTION:April Theme: Social Innovation\n\n\n\nSocial Innovation means creating methods and ideas to engage people in the development of solutions to address our societal problems in clever and new ways that benefit people and our planet.\n\nSociety faces extraordinary challenges such gender and cultural inequality\, hunger and poverty\, homelessness\, unstable economies\, climate change\, crime and many other issues. At the same time technologies are transforming the world in a large and significant way\, transforming communication\, social interaction\, media and markets. These changes necessarily require change in how we see social and environmental change. These challenges are daunting but also provide an opportunity to see old problems in new ways. As such\, these conditions offer an opportunity for social innovation to emerge. Cross-sectoral collaborations\, community entrepreneurship and civil society will lead changes that seek to use the untapped resources and human energy in our communities. \n\n\n\nThe Innovation Roundtable is here to listen to individuals\, businesses and organizations and what to help you understand what innovation means and how by implementing strategic changes in your business you can dramatically improve productivity\, sales\, company recognition\, awareness and profit. \n\nThe Surrey Board of Trade also wants to encourage small businesses\, entrepreneurs and students to come share and benefit from the insight provided through these Roundtables. The process of Innovation requires new and creative thought. Innovative ideas can come from anywhere\, both within your organization and from outside. Brilliant ideas\, big and small\, are looking for support and many organizations often don't realize that they need help or would benefit from a new idea. \n\nThere are a number of government initiatives that can help bring organizations and ideas together\, to benefit both. Invest some time\, come and find out how and why you need to innovate and how the SBOT can help you get on your way to improved business performance.
