DESCRIPTION:Innovation Insights: BC Place's Award-Winning New Roof and the Whitecaps' regular season finale\n\nBC Place stadium's $150 million renovation turned Vancouver's stadium into the "crown jewel" of the CFL and the largest cable-supported retractable roof in the world.\n\nThis Innovation Insights tour will explore various aspects of the award-winning stadium renovation project from an engineering and design perspective. Following the presentation and a tour of the stadium\, light refreshments will be served before we settle into our seats to cheer on the Whitecaps at their final match of the regular season.\n\n\n\nHIGHLIGHTS:\n\n	Enjoy a personalized\, behind-the-scenes guided tour of the renovated BC Place stadium\, with the Project's Senior Principal Architect Doug Hamming \n	Learn about the technical innovation that makes the new roof unique and spectacular \n	Network with other manufacturing and industry leaders\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER - DOUG HAMMING\, Senior Principal\, Architecture Doug's focus is on client and guest experiences. This design philosophy has been continuously refined through projects for NASA\, Vancouver's YMCA\, Vancouver Aquarium and BC Place Stadium\, a 2010 Olympics venue that met the client's criteria to move them beyond their comfort. His design process provides opportunity for people to connect and resonate with projects from various points of view\, from metaphorical to the practical and visual to tactile\, resulting in a collective workbench where teams engage in fruitful conversation - sleeves rolled-up\, speaking vision into being. Doug's passion resides in public buildings\, especially those created to reflect the stories/experiences of history makers. He pulls inspiration from the universe's edge: the waterfront! He is engaged in actively evolving his downtown neighborhood into a sociologically sustainable community. No surprise\, his favorite mode of transport is walking. Rejuvenation is found at the beach or hiking to Garibaldi Lake
