DESCRIPTION:Save the Date: Poverty Reduction Forum this November\n\n\n\n\n Please mark your calendar for November 7\, 2013 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Let's Make THIS Happen! a forum on reducing poverty in Surrey. The Surrey Poverty Reduction Coalition and Vibrant Surrey Poverty Reduction Society invite you to attend and participate in this interactive learning event at the Kwantlen Conference Centre.\n\n \n\n The forum is a follow-up to the March 2012 Poverty Dialogue\, where participants learned about Vibrant Surrey's Poverty Fact Sheets and brainstormed solutions and recommended actions. The outcome of the Poverty Dialogue was the Surrey Poverty Reduction Plan\, which was adopted by Surrey City Council in July 2012. The Surrey Poverty Reduction Coalition was formed in October 2012 to implement the Plan\, and members have been working to promote awareness and mobilize the community to take action on the Plan's recommendations.\n\n \n\n Here is a link to the Surrey Poverty Reduction Plan: http://www.vibrantsurrey.ca/initiatives/surrey-poverty-reduction-plan/\n\n \n\n The Let's Make THIS Happen! Forum will:\n\n 1. Inform attendees about the Plan and status of Plan implementation\n\n 2. Update participants about the facts on poverty in Surrey with 2011 Census data\n\n 3. Profile and celebrate action planned and underway to address poverty issues \n\n 4. Inspire and motivate others to take on poverty reduction initiatives\n\n The forum will include a keynote speaker who will speak on the success of community coalitions in reducing poverty\, a few short presentations on Surrey initiatives that tackle poverty\, and a Design Jam to engage participants in identifying effective ways to get action on the recommendations in the Surrey Poverty Reduction Plan.\n\n \n\n There will be more information and an invitation to register in the coming weeks.
