About Us
Penmar Community Arts Society is an arts charity focused on finding practical tools and building programs that help live music and the arts grow. At the heart of what we do is a simple belief: live music builds community when it’s accessible, supported, and valued.
Since 2014, Penmar has supported over 700 artists, helped deliver 200+ live events, and raised more than $950,000 to support musicians, venues, and community-based cultural programming across the South Fraser region.
We fundraise and provide grants to organizations and initiatives that bring people together through live music and cultural events, ensuring artists are paid fairly and audiences of all ages and backgrounds can participate.
Our flagship event, Salmon Sessions, now in its 4th annual year, is a cornerstone of this work. The festival creates paid performance opportunities for artists while bringing the community together around live music, connection, and shared experience.
Penmar is proudly 100% volunteer run. In 2025 alone, volunteers contributed over 600 hours, with every dollar raised reinvested back into artists, programming, and community impact.
We’re here to make sure great shows happen, artists get paid, and live music continues to thrive.
